Townhouse complexes are one of the most common architectural types in Taiwan. The design of most townhouse complexes focuses primarily on the floor plan, with a high degree of similarity, often resulting in over-commercialization that neglects the important relationships between interior and exterior, and between different spaces. Our current design takes a cross-sectional approach to create spatial hierarchy and interaction between spaces. We also incorporate energy-saving techniques and strive to overcome regulatory constraints to achieve optimal results.

Section Design
By utilizing double skin facades, setback external wall slabs, and staggered voids, we create variations in spatial hierarchy and enhance interaction between spaces.

Energy-Efficient Design
This design leverages buoyancy-driven ventilation for effective heat convection.
1. The staircase and glass facade are set back and topped with a ventilation tower to achieve heat convection.
2. The west facade features a vertical sunshade skin set apart from the external wall, which facilitates heat convection upon warming.

Facade Design
The completion of energy-efficient and sectional design naturally informs the architectural form and aesthetic.
